CEO
David has been working with Propel's founder Steve Kirsch
since 1985 when David joined Steve's first startup (Mouse
Systems) as Director of Software development.
In 1986 Steve and David left Mouse Systems to start
Frame Technology Corporation with two other partners.
David was the principal designer and co-author of Frame's
flagship technical publishing product, FrameMaker, which
has garnered many awards and after almost 20 years remains
the market leader in technical publishing solutions.
During his 9-years at Frame, David served as the founders’
representative on the Board of Directors, as VP of Engineering,
and as VP of Advanced Development. Frame went public
in 1992 and was acquired by Adobe Systems in 1994.
After Frame, David co-founded the internet services
business at Geographic Services Corporation (GSC), which
provides internet-based geographic mapping services
for store locators on web sites such as Godiva Chocolatiers,
CVS Drug Stores, and Movado Watch Company. He was VP
of Engineering and developed the core internet technology
powering GSC's net-based services.
While at GCS, David was a seed investor and served as
a strategic consultant to Steve Kirsch's third startup,
InfoSeek.
After launching GSC, David co-founded Medici Technology,
which developed and marketed data mining, GIS analysis,
and strategic marketing software for the community bank
market. David served as a board member, VP of Engineering,
and ran product management activities. He was the lead
designer and developer for Medici's core products. The
company was sold in a private transaction to PCI Services
in Boston.
David has been a key technical and management contributor
at Propel since its founding in 1999.
David holds undergraduate and Masters degrees in Music
Theory from the University of Connecticut, and completed
3 years of Doctoral work in Music Composition and Computer
Science at the University of Illinois.
