About Propel Accelerator - Internet Access Solutions

Propel's mission is simple - we are dedicated to improving the end user's Internet experience.

The company's first endeavor has been to solve a problem that affects approximately over 38.5 million U.S. Internet users - slow Internet dial-up connections. While high-speed broadband solutions can address this frustration, not everyone has access to high-speed broadband.

Propel provides a solution that is fast, affordable, easy to deploy, and available anywhere where a modem, low-speed broadband (eg, iDSL, 256K DSL, etc), satellite, or wireless laptop Internet access exists.

Propel was founded in November 1999 by serial Silicon Valley entrepreneur Steve Kirsch, who also founded Infoseek (acquired by The Walt Disney Corporation), Frame Technology, developer of FrameMaker (acquired by Adobe) and Mouse Systems Corporation (a pioneer in computer peripherals). The Propel team is comprised of a unique blend of experienced management team, proven technology experts, software developers, and network deployment professionals.

Propel has become the market leader in Internet acceleration since launching its product in 2002. Propel Accelerator client-server software speeds up Web browsing, e-mail and file downloads up to 5 times by using patent-pending compression, caching and connection optimization for wireless, low-speed broadband and dial-up Internet access. Also included in Propel's products is the blocking of unwanted pop-up and in-page advertising. Propel has partnered to deliver content filtering and parental controls.

Since its launch in 2002, Propel Accelerator has been deployed by hundreds of ISPs and other Propel users in more than 75 countries, making available an improved Internet experience to more than 34 million subscribers.  More than half of the top U.S. ISPs that offer accelerated service, such as AT&T WorldNet, BellSouth, CenturyTel, Cincinnati Bell, EarthLink, and PeoplePC Online use Propel Accelerator. The product has received critical acclaim from several leading reviewers and Internet experts from publications including CNET ("Editor's Choice"), PC World, Washington Post, ISP Planet, ZDNet, PC Magazine, the Wall Street Journal and Silicon Valley's San Jose Mercury News.
