ROMTELECOM Chooses Propel for Internet Acceleration
Romania’s Largest Internet Service Provider Is First To Offer Accelerated Internet Services to Dial-Up Customers
SAN JOSE, Calif., January 30, 2006 – Propel Software
Corporation (www.propel.com),
a market leader in Internet acceleration solutions, has announced
ROMTELECOM, Romania’s largest Internet service provider,
as a customer. ROMTELECOM will offer to its more than one
million customers, Propel Accelerator, as "ClickNet Accelerator"
as part of its ClickNet Start subscription service.
The agreement makes ROMTELECOM Romania’s first ISP to offer accelerated Internet services to dial-up customers.
“In Romania dial-up is still the norm rather than the exception, so the opportunity for Web acceleration services for dial-up is significant,” said Steve Kirsch, Propel CEO. “When entering new markets abroad our strategy is always to partner with the market leader first, which is exactly what we’ve done with ROMTELECOM. As more ISPs worldwide explore ways to offer a faster online experience to their customers, they will naturally look at what ROMTELECOM is doing, so this is a very strategic win for Propel.”
“Our dial-up customers get charged for every minute they spend online, so adding Propel Accelerator for a faster connection is an attractive and cost-effective option for many of them,” said Pieter Bakker, chief commercial officer, ROMTELECOM. “We chose Propel Accelerator because it was exactly what we needed to create a premium service for our dial-up users. Now our ClickNet Start users can have the information they want in less time for less money, and they are simply delighted. It is what our customers expect from the leader of the dial-up market in Romania.”
The ROMTELECOM/Propel relationship was orchestrated by Datek Telecom, a strategic telecom development partner that acts as a value-added reseller and system integrator for IT, networking and communications projects.
Propel Accelerator is an award-winning Internet acceleration product that provides a high-speed experience for users of 802.11 hotspots, wireless mobile data, low-speed broadband and dial-up connections. It is currently deployed by hundreds of ISPs and other Propel users in more than 75 countries, making available an improved Internet experience to more than 34 million subscribers.
