Propel Software Sets New Performance Standard with Higher Image Quality and faster Web page downloads

February 8, 2005, San Jose, California – Propel Software Corporation (www.propel.com), the market leader in Internet acceleration solutions, announced today the general availability of Propel Accelerator 5 for Macintosh and Propel Accelerator 5 for Windows, that deliver higher quality Web images and give users optimum acceleration.

The new acceleration and image quality features in Propel Accelerator 5 will be available from all Propel delivery channels: Propel Direct, providing an end-user subscription to Propel's managed service, and through hundreds of ISPs around the world.

Previewed at MacWorld in San Francisco last month, Macintosh users were impressed with the elegance and total integration of Propel Accelerator into the Mac OS X environment. Instead of simply converting its Windows application version to the Macintosh, Propel designed Propel Accelerator for the Macintosh as a system-level utility that is simple and user-friendly. The result is Propel Accelerator with a look and feel that accomplishes the Macintosh user's goal of an accelerated Web browsing experience.

• Compression. Images and other graphic objects are compressed by removing some of the image detail. This results in dramatically smaller images that are delivered to your computer more quickly. Users may set your own default level of graphic compression, and users may also right click on any image or Web page and select the menu item to refresh in the image or Web page in full quality.
• Caching. Propel intelligently retains and reuses Web pages and page elements that have previously been sent to your desktop.
• Persistent Connections. Propel Accelerator optimizes the communication between your modem and Propel's network of servers. This eliminates the time wasted re-establishing and closing TCP/IP connections.
• Chunk Encoding with Parallel Connections. When a user begins to download a file larger than 100KB, this feature downloads different segments of the same file from different locations.
