Propel Solidifies Market and Product Leadership Position

Propel Accelerator 5.0 and New ISP Customers
Strengthen Propel's Hold as Acceleration Market Leader

November 3, 2004, (ISPCON) Santa Clara, CA - With today's announcements of its next generation acceleration solution Propel Accelerator 5.0, the preview of Propel Accelerator for Macintosh, customized for OS X, plus its continuing success in signing up ISPs, Propel Software has strengthened its position as the market and performance leader in the acceleration industry. Propel Accelerator is now deployed by ISPs with a customer base of more than 32 million subscribers in more than 30 countries worldwide. More than 60 percent of the top U.S. ISPs that offer accelerated service have chosen Propel, including AT&T WorldNet, EarthLink, Cincinnati Bell, Joi Internet, PeoplePC Online and other service providers, resellers and OEMs such as Pac-West Telecomm, and U.S. Robotics.

"Our leadership position comes from listening to our customers," said Dean Tucker, president and CEO of Propel. "Propel continues to be both the market leader and the performance leader. Propel Accelerator 5.0 establishes a new standard of performance for acceleration because it proves that you can deliver the highest level of acceleration and still deliver more of the original image quality that users want. Our customers, both large and small ISPs, told us that their subscribers wanted higher image quality at the fastest acceleration speeds. Now, with Propel Accelerator 5.0, ISPs can offer a more compelling value to their dial-up and low-speed broadband subscribers."

Propel's two primary acceleration solutions are designed for ISPs and other service providers who want to provide hosted or licensedcceleration solutions that can be quickly deployed and help them retain customers on their profitable dial-up and other low-speed connection platforms.

Propel Complete is a fully-managed and hosted service designed for ISPs that want to offer accelerated dialup without the expense of dedicated resources. With Propel Complete, Propel recently pioneered a flat monthly fee pricing plan that allows ISPs to maximize their acceleration service by adding as many customers as possible for a single low monthly fee. The Propel solution requires no hardware or technology investment and can be deployed in less than a week.

Propel Acceleration Service (PAS) is a licensed software solution for ISPs and other providers that want to host and manage a Propel-powered solution from within their own infrastructure. PAS has the lowest cost per supported user in the industry because a single Propel server can handle up to 2,000 concurrent users. And features such as built-in load balancing and global traffic redirection make it the most robust acceleration solution.

Positive Response by ISPs
The response from ISPs of all sizes has, not surprisingly, been positive.

"Propel's acceleration software reinvigorated our dial-up internet access business," said Kevin Sullivan, Vice President & General Manager, Data & Internet Services for Cincinnati Bell. "After deploying the accelerator, we immediately saw net adds swing from negative to positive. More importantly, the subscribers we've been adding are predominantly high-value dial-up subscribers, ripe for migration to broadband services."

"It's made a big difference to be able to offer acceleration bundled with our current pricing," said Dane Jasper, president and CEO of Sonic.net, Santa Rosa, CA. "Plus, the Propel managed service controls my monthly acceleration costs, so I can add accelerated users without increasing costs. That's a winning combination for Sonic.net."

"Propel is easy to install, it performs incredibly well and more importantly, it allows us to provide a valuable product to our customers," said Richard Anderson, Manager, ISP Services for Momentum Online, Blanco, TX. "Propel's approach to acceleration combines outstanding technology and simplicity, giving us the opportunity to deliver competitive value."

"When dial-up is our customers' choice of access, Propel is our choice for acceleration," said John Stadter, president and CEO of ComSpanUSA, Roseburg, OR. "Propel has turned our dial-up into a high quality, low broadband experience. Users see immediate changes and we see even stronger loyalty from our customers."

"Andiamo's move to Propel has generated not only new excitement among subscribers, but also new opportunities for us in the dial-up market," said Jack Kelly, COO, Andiamo Telecom, Scottsdale, AZ. "It has been especially well received in the areas where DSL and cable are not generally available, and it gives Andiamo a leg up on the competitors in those areas."

"Propel has become a dream come true for an already busy ISP.  It has not only helped us retain existing customers, it's also increased our customer base," said Roger Alumbaugh, owner of ACE Internet,Harrington, WA."Installation was simple and has since required little-to-no maintenance."

"After a mere 30 minutes to install and configure our Propel Acceleration server, we haven't had to touch it since. It's been nothing but rock solid," said Adam Olson, Network Manager for Humboldt Internet, Arcata, CA. "But the beauty of Propel has been our business results. Adding Propel acceleration has helped us give premium customers a value-add that has an impact every time they go online."
